Choice of Interiors
Science has yet to create a more natural or sustainable building material that surpasses the abilities of wood. The natural insulating ability of wood far exceeds that of plastic or metal in the manufacture of windows and doors.
Wood Species
Ponderosa Pine
Ponderosa pine has a straight and uniform grain which can be machined into a clear and very smooth surface. Ponderosa pine possess a uniform cell structure and is mostly unaffected by humidity after drying which provides close fitting joints.
Douglas Fir
Douglas fir is very dimensionally stable and universally recognized for its superior strength-to-weight ratio. Its light rose colored tint, which may darken over time to a cherry like color when exposed to UV rays, is accented by its remarkably straight grain pattern.
Natural Alder
Red alder is almost white when freshly cut but quickly changes, with exposure to air, to a light brown or a pleasant reddish tint. Red alder is primarily straight grained with a very uniform texture.
Interior Finish
Natural Wood Interior
This is the standard interior for all windows and doors. Raw wood that is lightly sanded but without any interior, clear coat, toner, or primer applied.
Clear Coat
Light coat of water based top coat designed to prepare wood surfaces for final top coat.
Primed Interior
This interior option features the application of a quality latex primer applied to interior wood surfaces.
Interior Base Coat - Frost
A base coat finish consisting of one coat of primer and one topcoat for painted interiors.
Interior Toners
Hazelnut
A medium toner for stained or clear sealed interiors.
Maple
A lighter toner for stained or clear sealed interiors.
All Wood Parts Are Fully Treated
All wood components of every Semco window or door are fully immersed in a protective bath to protect and extend the lifetime of the wood.
Please note: All of the above finishes are sold as base coats only. They do not have nail holes filled and are not suitable for a finished appearance and do require additional filling and top-coating with a quality paint, stain, or wood sealer.
